Las Terrenas as a destination

What to do in Las Terrenas?

El Limón Waterfall

This is a beautiful 45-meter-high waterfall located in the heart of the rainforest, cascading into a natural pool perfect for a relaxing swim. The waterfall is accessible on horseback via the "Coffee Trail," where visitors can purchase and sample typical Guatemalan food and drinks. To reach the falls, it is necessary to contact tour operators who organize guided excursions.

Los Haitises National Park

This beautiful national park boasts a rich array of vegetation and wildlife, including important endangered species. Within its boundaries are numerous caves displaying petroglyphs created by the Taíno people, the island's original inhabitants before the arrival of Europeans.

Fishermen's Village

A former settlement of locals that has become the gastronomic and nightlife center of the region. Visitors will find restaurants, pizzerias, and bars, all within a striking Caribbean architectural style and with spectacular ocean views.

Humpback Whale Watching

From January to March, humpback whales migrate to the waters off Samaná to mate and give birth. For this reason, the area is recognized worldwide as a prime location for whale watching. The experience of observing these magnificent animals is further enhanced by the presence of the Whale Museum in Samaná.
